Mechanical Engineering Technology

As many companies bring back manufacturing jobs to the United States, the job outlook for mechanical engineering technicians is increasingly bright. Innovations in technology have drastically changed the manufacturing process. Now, high-skilled technicians are in-demand to help mechanical engineers design and build new technologies. Mechanical engineering technicians and technologists collaborate with engineers in the field to create tomorrow's inventions.

BFIT’s Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET) Bachelor’s Degree program was created in response to the growing need for skilled-workers in the manufacturing economy. This newly-designed 4-year-program will prepare you to serve as a bridge between the mechanical engineering technician and the mechanical engineer. Through a hands-on teaching approach, you will develop skills to provide technical support to mechanical engineers in the manufacturing of new and existing products in growing industries. This is the only conventional MET day program in Massachusetts.

Practical Electricity

Jobs in Electrical Technology are projected to grow 23% by 2020. New residential and commercial construction projects as well as an aging workforce has led to a high demand for trained and skilled electricians. Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology's electrical program prepares graduates for jobs in residential, commercial and industrial projects. As a student, you will be introduced to all phases of the industry including design, installation, estimating, and sales.

Most graduates find jobs as electrical contractors, estimators, product sales representatives, and systems designers. From the designing of construction projects in residential, commercial, and industrial areas to the completion of these projects, students experience all phases of an electrical project. A ten-hour OSHA course provides students with an understanding of job site safety. Experienced personnel in the trades, as well as state regulators, such as the Board of Electricians and the Division of Apprentice Training, assures that the program is ever-changing, with new methods and technology. Our materials are constantly updated to conform to the National Electrical Code, which changes every three years.
